Governance
The Design For Development was incorporated as a registered Canadian charity in May 2006. With a governing Board of Directors, officers, management and volunteers, we are accountable to the government of Canada, the Canadian public and to those we aim to serve.
The official mandate of the Design For Development Society is to:
- Advance education by conducting research on the social and economic problems affecting communities in developing countries, and identifying unmet needs so that appropriate design solutions and programs can be developed.
- Promote health in developing countries by designing, manufacturing and distributing bicycle ambulances to villages and health clinics in need of improved patient transport capabilities.
- Relieve poverty and promote health in developing countries by providing basic supplies and services through innovative and practical design solutions.
- Advance education by providing skill training programs to individuals in developing countries.
- Educate the public on community development and practical design solutions through workshops, seminars, and consultations
